Develop a tool that allows Duke Energy residential customers to view their carbon emissions score. The score is calculated using the address and up to 24 months of energy usage associated with their Duke Energy My Account information. Many of Duke Energy’s customers are actively setting and working toward net-zero carbon goals while reaching out for information and guidance to calculate their carbon emissions. The RCT tool will serve customers across residential segments by utilizing different data sets and calculation methodologies to deliver basic carbon metrics and insights.
In this role, I utilized Duke Energy's Electron design system to produce a holistic solution to Duke Energy’s customer-facing residential carbon tool that ensures consistency in information sources. The Electron design system served as a reference; I used components and standard fonts to create effective and engaging high-fidelity mockups. Additionally, I effectively communicated design choices and recommendations to clients and conducted presentations with internal teams.
• Design a new carbon calculating tool for residential customers using the Duke Energy Electron design system. Include ready-built components from the design system and customized features that serve guidance for users to calculate their carbon emissions.
• Created comprehensive high-fidelity designs for multiple sign-in scenarios for user authentication and data sets. Specific sign-ins will determine what features are generated in the RCT interface.
• Presented prototypes directly to the product owner and internal team members every week. Collaborated with the Senior Designers for insights to improve the existing web presence and feedback for revisions.
• Use Abstract (version control application paired with Sketch) to publish finalized designs to developers for production work.
